Our Commitment to Privacy
At LangWiz, privacy is not a feature — it's the foundation of our product.
We believe your personal data belongs to you, and translation software should
never compromise that principle.
What We DON'T Collect
LangWiz is designed with a strict "zero data collection" philosophy:
- No text content: Any text you translate stays on your computer. Period.
- No documents: Files you upload for batch translation are processed locally and never uploaded.
- No screenshots: Screenshots captured for OCR translation are processed entirely on-device.
- No translation history: Your translation history is stored locally in your user profile directory.
- No keystrokes or inputs: We do not track what you type.
- No telemetry: No usage statistics, no crash reports (unless you voluntarily send them).
What We DO Process (Minimal)
The only data that leaves your computer is:
- License verification: When you activate your license, a minimal verification request is made to confirm your license key is valid. No personal information is transmitted.
- Voluntary bug reports: If you choose to report a bug, the report may contain technical information about your system. This is entirely optional.
Local Data Storage
All your data is stored locally on your computer:
- Translation history: Stored in a local SQLite database file in your user directory.
- Personal glossary: Your custom translation terms are stored locally.
- Settings and preferences: All application settings are stored in your user profile.
- License file: Your activation state is stored locally, encrypted with your machine ID as the key.
None of this data is synced or transmitted to any server.
AI Model Privacy
LangWiz uses a locally installed AI model for translation. The model runs entirely on your hardware
(CPU or GPU). No API calls are made to external translation services.
Your translations are processed completely offline using on-device neural inference.
Payment Processing
We use Paddle (Merchant of Record) for payment processing.
Paddle handles all payment transactions securely and complies with GDPR, PCI DSS,
and other applicable regulations. During checkout:
- Your payment information is processed directly by Paddle
- We never have access to your full credit card details
- Paddle's privacy policy applies to the transaction
After purchase, we receive only your email address (for license delivery) and purchase confirmation.
Data Retention
Since we don't collect your translation data, there's nothing for us to retain.
Your local data (history, glossary, settings) persists until you choose to delete it
or uninstall the application.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access and export all your local data through the application's export features
- Delete your translation history and glossary at any time
- Clear your license activation by deactivating in the application settings
- Request deletion of any minimal account data (email, purchase history) — contact support
Children's Privacy
LangWiz is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect
personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material
changes through the application or via email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this
policy indicates the most recent revision.
